Collaboration Homework

Collaboration

1:

The first collaboration I have chosen to look at is this hoodie by Tommy Hilfiger and MTV which features the famous (in the 90's) Beavis and Butthead on the design.

Bringing this collaboration together involved many different industries to work with each other.  Firstly you have the producer/designer of the garment, in this case that is Tommy Hilfiger, they have collaborated with MTV who have arranged for them to be able to use the characters from their TV show on their product.  This would have involved copyright issues etc which would have to have been overseen by a legal team.  Also the point of sale is ASOS who would have been in charge hiring a photographer and also ensuring that they photographed the item in a was in keeping with the brand image of the website.

2:

Secondly we have a Vans x Supreme collaboration.

Not only one of the longest running Vans collaborations but one of the oldest trainer collaborations ever, dating way back to 1996.  At the time Supreme was just an independent skate store based in New York so this collaboration was huge for them.  To create the final product would have involved the manufacturers, which in this case was Vans, and the designers, who in this case were Supreme.  I think this is a great example of how important collaborations can be, especially for less established brands/artists if there are businesses out there willing to give them an opportunity.

3:

The final collaboration I am going to look at is Karol G's music video Bichota

The artist is Karol G, she wrote the song along with several other songwriters, it was produced by Ovy on the Drums, on the Universal Music Latino label.  There would have been lots of people collaborating with regards to the aesthetic side of the video too, and also the publicity and marketing side of things also.
